The three-layer polyethylene (3PE/3LPE) outer coating perfectly solves this problem. It consists of a high-performance fused epoxy (FBE) layer, an adhesive layer and an outer layer of high-density polyethylene. The three-layer outer coating has excellent wear resistance, abrasion resistance, acid resistance, alkali resistance, cathodic stripping resistance and other properties.
3LPE coated pipes consist of 3 layers of pipe coating.
The first layer (FBE>100um) is composed of sintered epoxy resin. This layer protects against corrosion and fuses with the blasted steel surface.
The second layer (170~250um) is a copolymer adhesive, which has good chemical bonding with the inner and top layers of polyethylene.
The third layer (2.5~3.7mm) is the polyethylene layer, which is used to protect the pipe from any physical damage
These three layers are firmly combined with the steel pipe to form an excellent anti-corrosion coating. The usable pipe diameter range is 25Φ~2420Φ.
3-layer polyethylene coated steel pipe is the first choice for oil and gas transportation around the world. It can withstand a wide range of temperatures and environments from desert drylands to deep sea areas. 3LPE coated steel pipes are used to transport drinking water, oil and natural gas gases and other fluids. 3LPE coated pipes can be used at high temperatures up to 60°C to 80°C.
3 Characteristics of LPE coated pipes
1. Excellent chemical corrosion resistance to prevent any damage to the steel pipe.
2. Resistant to cathodic stripping.
3. The polyethylene outer layer prevents any physical damage to the pipe or sintered epoxy resin during handling.
4. 3LPE coated pipes have high performance characteristics and extended life cycle.
