Difference between 3pe and 2pe anti-corrosion pipelines

Feb 28, 2024
Difference between 3PE anti-corrosion steel pipe and 2PE anti-corrosion steel pipe:
2PE anti-corrosion steel pipe (two-layer polyethylene) pipe has a two-layer PE anti-corrosion structure, the first layer of adhesive (AD), and the second layer of polyethylene (PE). The two materials are integrated into one, and the thickness of each layer is the same as that of the three layers of PE.

3PE anti-corrosion steel pipes generally consist of a 3-layer structure: the first layer of epoxy powder (FBE>100um), the second layer of adhesive (AD) 170~250um, and the third layer of polyethylene (PE) 2.5~3.7mm. In actual operation, the three materials are mixed and integrated into one, and after processing, they are firmly combined with the steel pipe to form an excellent anti-corrosion layer. Its processing methods are generally divided into two types: winding type and round die covering type.

3PE anti-corrosion technology combines the excellent properties of epoxy coating and extruded polyethylene anti-corrosion layers, combining the interface properties and chemical resistance properties of epoxy coating with the mechanical protection properties of extruded polyethylene anti-corrosion layer. This significantly improves their respective performance. Its characteristics: high mechanical strength, wear resistance, corrosion resistance, heat resistance, cold resistance, can be used in 150 degree medium, and is suitable for cold areas. Therefore, the 3PE anti-corrosion layer is an ideal outer protective layer for buried pipelines. According to testing by authoritative departments, the service life of buried pipelines using 3PE anti-corrosion technology can be as long as 50 years.
