Interpretation of EN 10216 series standards

In the EN 10216 standard, we briefly explain the representation and meaning of the steel types, grades, and steel grades of the first four parts of carbon steel and alloy steel:
EN 10216-1 Part 1 includes P195TR1/P195TR2, P235TR1/P235TR2, and P265TR1/P265TR2 steel grades;
According to the classification system of EN10020, the six steel grades in this part are all non-alloy high-quality steels, and the representation method is P (meaning pressure bearing) + "minimum yield strength at room temperature" + characters "TR1/TR2"; "TR1" refers to the grade without specified aluminum content, impact properties, and specific inspection and test requirements; "TR2" refers to the grade with specified aluminum content, impact properties, and specific inspection and test requirements;

EN 10216-2 The second part includes commonly used P195GH, P235GH, P265GH and 16Mo3, 14MoV6, 10crMo9-10/15NiCuMoNb5-6-4, X10CrMovNb9-1 and other steel grades;
According to the classification system of EN10020, "P195GH, P235GH and P265GH" steel grades are classified as non-alloy steels, and the representation method is P (for pressure bearing) + "minimum yield strength at room temperature" + character "GH"; "GH" is a high temperature symbol, which means high temperature;
Other 16Mo3, 14MoV6, 10crMo9-10, 15NiCuMoNb5-6-4, X10CrMovNb9-1 and other steel grades are classified as special alloy steels, and the representation method is composed of element composition and heat treatment code;

EN 10216-3 The third part is a special part. The standard is for round seamless pipes, but there is a note in the standard: "This part also applies to non-circular interfaces: necessary modifications are allowed when inquiring and ordering." That is to say, square, rectangular and special-shaped pipes can be made, but the technical requirements must be noted and subdivided.
The so-called "fine-grained steel" in this part refers to steel with a ferrite grain size equal to or finer than 6 according to ENRONORM. In addition, this part includes 17 steel grades including P275NL1, P355N, P355NH, P355NL1, P275NL2, P355NL2, P460N, P460NH, P460NL1, P460NL2, P620Q, P620QH, P620QL, P690Q, P690QH, P690QL1, P690QL2, etc. The steel grades in this part are expressed as P (meaning pressure bearing) + "minimum yield strength at room temperature" + characters "N", "NH", "NL1", "NL2", "Q", "QH", "QL", "QL1" or " QL2"; at the same time, this part divides these 17 steel grades into four grades:
① Basic grade (P...N,Q)
② High temperature grade (P....NH,QH)
③ Low temperature grade (P...NL1,QL,QL1)
④ Specific low temperature grade (P....NL2.QL2)
According to the classification system of EN10020, steel grades P275NL1, P355N, P355NH, P355NL1 are alloy high-quality steels, and other P275NL2, P355NL2, P460N, P460NH, P460NL1, P460NL2, P620Q, P620QH, P620QL, P690Q, P690QH, P690QL1, P690QL2 steel grades are special alloy steels;

"NH" grade is for high temperature performance testing;
"NL" and "QL" grades are also for high temperature performance testing;
The high temperature performance testing and low temperature impact performance of this part during ordering should be clearly determined in the contract according to the corresponding provisions of the standard.

Part 4 of EN 10216-4 includes P215NL, P255QL, P265NL and 26CrMo4-2, 11MnNi5-3, 13MnNi6-3, 12Ni14, X12Ni5, X10Ni9 steel grades; According to the classification system in EN 10020, "P215NL, P255QL, P265NL" are classified as non-alloy steels; the representation method is P (for pressure bearing) + "minimum yield strength at room temperature" + characters "NL" and "QL"; "L" means low temperature, which means low temperature pipe; N and Q are actually codes for heat treatment status; other steel grades "26CrMo4-2, 11MnNi5-3, 13MnNi6-3, 12Ni14, X12Ni5, X10Ni9" are classified as alloy special steels, and the representation method is composed of element composition and heat treatment code;
